Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and R3LAB Inc. (“Petpair”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the Petpair app and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) and able to form a binding contract to use Petpair.

Petpair helps humans find playdates and pedigree matches for their pets. Use it kindly, keep your pet safe, meet other members responsibly, and treat people the way you’d want to be treated at the park. Petpair introduces pets — it doesn’t supervise the walk. The full terms are below.

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Provide accurate information about you and your pet and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. One person may not maintain multiple accounts to evade suspensions or mislead other members. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Petpair is a community built on trust. When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse other members, or post hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise objectionable content;
• Misrepresent yourself, your pet, or your pet’s health, pedigree or temperament;
• Use the Service for anything illegal, or for the sale of animals in violation of applicable law, or to promote unsafe or unethical breeding;
• Post content that isn’t yours to share, or that infringes anyone’s intellectual-property, privacy or other rights;
• Spam, solicit, or use the Service for unauthorised commercial or promotional purposes;
• Upload viruses or malicious code, attempt to breach security, or interfere with the Service;
• Scrape, crawl, reverse-engineer, or access the Service through automated means except as we expressly permit;
• Collect or misuse other members’ information.

You keep ownership of the photos, text and other content you add to Petpair (“Your Content”). To operate the Service, you grant Petpair a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize and display Your Content for the purpose of running and improving the Service — for example, showing your pet’s card to nearby members. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained for a limited period in backups or where required by law.

You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights to share it. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

Uploading vaccination or pedigree papers is always optional. Verified records earn a badge; unverified pets are never blocked from matching. We may add, withhold or remove a badge if records lapse, appear inaccurate, or cannot be confirmed. A verification badge reflects a document we received — it is not a veterinary certification, a guarantee of your pet’s health, temperament or pedigree, and it is not medical or veterinary advice. Always consult your own vet.

Every match, playdate and meet-up happens between real people and real animals in the real world. Petpair introduces pets; it does not vet members, verify identities, supervise meet-ups, or take part in any arrangement between members.

You are solely responsible for your decisions and your safety. We strongly encourage you to: vet your matches, communicate first, meet in a public place, tell someone where you’re going, and use your own judgement about other members and their pets. Any breeding is a decision you make at your own risk and responsibility, and you agree to breed responsibly and lawfully.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Petpair is not responsible for the conduct of any member, for any interaction, meet-up, playdate or breeding arrangement, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from them.

“Treats” and similar in-app items are a virtual feature of the Service. They have no monetary value, are not currency, cannot be bought, sold, redeemed or exchanged for money or anything of value outside the Service, and are non-transferable except as the app allows. We may change, limit, or discontinue virtual items at any time.

You can stop using Petpair and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend, limit or terminate your access if you break these Terms or the house rules, or if we reasonably believe your conduct puts pets, people or the Service at risk. Where practical and lawful we’ll tell you why. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licences already granted, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that matches or outcomes will be achieved, or that content posted by members is accurate. Nothing in the Service is medical or veterinary advice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Petpair and R3LAB Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, or your interactions with other members. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us to use the Service in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free service, is zero) or CAD $100. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Petpair and R3LAB Inc. from any claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, your interactions or meet-ups with other members, or your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts located in Ontario, Canada will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your place of residence.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” below and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
